Today’s winners were the beneficiaries of the big resources story of the day — the joint venture between junior explorers Coda Minerals (ASX:COD) and Torrens Mining (ASX:TRN) which hit 200m of “intense IOCG alteration” at the ‘Elizabeth Creek’ project in South Australia.

IOCG stands for iron-oxide-copper-gold, and the nature of the deposits can be huge. This one included around 50m of copper sulphides as part of the discovery.

Also rising strongly was infrastructure company Cardno (ASX:CDD), which indicated it might be back in play as a takeover target based on recent approaches from interested parties.
