Following on from big gains in small cap energy stocks yesterday, oil & gas explorer Octanex (ASX:OXX) led the pack today with an intra-day surge of more than 70 per cent.

While it ripped higher, OXX had no news to report. The company’s last market update came on March 12 with the release of its half-year financials.

Among stocks with announcements, New World Resources (ASX:NWC) led the way after recording a big copper hit — 25.4m @ 5.2% copper equivalent — at its Antler deposit in Arizona, USA.

Another 24 per cent gain saw NWC shares climb above 10c, and the stock is now up more than 10x over the past 12 months.
