Closing Bell: ASX drops but energy maintains the gains

The ASX is down -0.3% today with the information technology sector taking the cake for the biggest dip at ~3%, followed by the healthcare sector at more than 1.5%. The ASX Emerging Companies Index (XEC) has flatlined.
For the second day in a row the energy sector has been the biggest winner, with companies such as Invictus (ASX:IVS) making headway on its two-well drill program at the 80% owned and operated Cabora Bassa gas condensate project in Zimbabwe. ADX Energy (ASX:ADX) also announced the discovery of an oil zone at its primary Anshof-3 Well target in Upper Austria.

Agribusiness Wellard (ASX:WLD) surged after announcing that it had resolved its arbitration proceedings in London against the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Wellard is now entitled to receive payments plus interest amounting to approximately US$ 12m within 14 days.
Critical Resources’ (ASX:CRR) shares climbed on the back of its announcement that the acquisition of the Mavis Lake Lithium Project in Ontario, Canada has been completed.
Intersections of up to 55.25m at 1.04% lithium from 80.75m in drill hole MF18-53 and 26.3m at 1.70% lithium from 111.9m including 7.70m at 2.97% lithium from 130.5m have been previously returned – presenting what the company has described as “excellent potential”.
Pacific Nickel Mines (ASX:PNM) has shot up with an early update on its works program to advance the Kolosori Nickel Project in the Solomon Islands, while enterprise property management platform AssetOwl (ASX:AO1) revealed Harris Real Estate has signed a customer licence to trial AssetOwl’s Pirsee platform – enabling the creation of virtual tours with the Insta360 panoramic camera.

Clinical-stage drug development company Noxopharm (ASX:NOX) has announced the appointment of Dr Gisela Mautner as its chief executive officer starting from February 1, 2022. NOX is in the process of transitioning from an early-stage biotech company into a serious bio-pharma company.
Troy Resources (ASX:TRY) has entered into a series of agreements that it says will, if approved by shareholders, achieve a recapitalisation of the company. It is engaging with the ASX to satisfy requirements for the recommencement of trading.
Human resources tech company Xref (ASX:XF1) says it has reported another strong trading performance during the second quarter of the company’s 2022 financial year on the back of a 71% growth in sales and $0.2m cash surplus.
Meeka Gold (ASX:MEK) has intersected a broad zone of mineralisation at its Turnberry South project with hits of up to 13m at 2.18 g/t from 219m, including 4m at 3.87% g/t gold while mining services provider Decmil Group (ASX:DCG) has received government infrastructure contracts worth $27.8m.
