Are there any 1990’s figure-skating fans among the Stockhead readership? If so, you may be familiar with Tonya Harding, who was implicated in an attack on her main rival Nancy Kerrigan which saw Kerrigan suffer a broken leg.

An eerily similar story emerged out of France overnight, where leading football player Aminata Diallo was arrested, in connection with allegations of an attack on her Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) teammate, Kheira Hamraoui.

Media reports indicate that Diallo was driving a group of players home from dinner, when a group of assailants dragged Hamraoui from the car and hit her across the legs with an iron bar.

While Hamraoui suffered cuts and bruises, she didn’t end up with any career-threatening injuries.

In a PSG game during the week, Diallo then assumed Hamraoui’s position in central midfield. Investigations by both police and the club are ongoing.
