ASX Small Cap Lunch Wrap: Who’s looking down at their feet today?
News
As the global death toll from COVID-19 ticks over 315,000, countries across the world are in various stages of easing social distancing restrictions.
And as part of the battle to contain the spread, one Boston skin specialist has unexpectedly found themselves looking at a lot of…toes.
Dermatologist Esther Freeman told the AP that in practising via telehealth, she’s seen more pictures of toes over the last few weeks than she has in her entire career.
Viruses are often the cause of various rashes and ailments, and a feature of COVID-19 appears to be irritation of the toes — bright red sores that look like the result of excessive exposure to cold weather.
While the news is likely to prompt some to look down and check their feet, investors were looking up this morning as the ASX got off to a strong start.
Markets continue to take a more optimistic view of the next six to 12 months, despite the risk of second waves and further economic contractions.
The ASX200 was up 1.5 per cent to 5,483 points while the Small Ords index climbed more than 2 per cent to 2,492 points.
