The Aussie market is up for a third straight day after Wall Street rallied to another record high overnight on growing optimism the worst may be behind us.

The benchmark ASX 200 Index is up +66 points – or 0.97 per cent – to 6840 points. The energy sector is the only loser, down 0.2 per cent.

While rising bond yields have weighed on highly valued growth sectors such as tech, they have driven gains in “economically sensitive pockets” in the market like banks, energy and automakers, according to Morningstar.

“It is like the markets have remembered to be happy about economic recovery again,” said Russ Mould, investment director at AJ Bell.
