For younger small cap investors, familiarity around modern Coca Cola derivatives probably ends at Coke Zero.

But before Diet Coke (a 1980’s invention) there was Tab Cola — a no-sugar variety sweetened with saccharin which was first sold in 1963.

Although it’s assumed cult status among a small band of loyal drinkers, Tab stocks have steadily dwindled for years as production levels slowed.

And in the cold, hard reality that is 2020, the powers that be at Coke HQ have decided to kill it off for good.

No more Tab at the end of this year (pour one out for the beautiful people).

On markets, local stocks are surviving and thriving. Gains among the major miners paced returns on the ASX200.

Despite usually outperforming the big end of town in recent weeks, the ASX Emerging Companies Index lagged slightly with a morning gain of around 0.2 per cent.

Amid broader risk-on sentiment, the Aussie dollar also gained ground while US stock futures were up by around 0.5 per cent, indicating a solid session in Asia-Pac may flow through to global markets.

Emerge Gaming (ASX:EM1) was among the leaders in morning trade, after announcing strong pre-registration activity for its MIGGSTER platform.

Based on a monthly subscription fee, the platform offers subscribers access to tournaments for their favourite mobile games with the opportunity to earn income.

EM1’s commercial partner, Tecnología de Impacto Múltiple SL, is aiming for 100,00 signups within the first six months of launch. And today, Emerge said pre-registrations for the platform had topped the 3 million mark.

That was enough for a morning gain of more than 50 per cent in EM1 shares, to a multi-year high above 8c.
