With Tamboran gearing up to drill its wholly-owned Maverick-1H gas well in 2022, the company has strengthened its management team with three new executives.

The company has appointed Dr David Close as its vice president – operations and external affairs, Chris Morbey as vice president – investor relations and Petra Fagerstrom as its general counsel.

Managing director Joel Riddle said each of the three new executives will bring a unique skillset and considerable energy experience to deliver Tamboran Resources’ (ASX:TBN) strategy of being the first to commercialise the core area of the Beetaloo Sub-Basin in the Northern Territory.

Dr Close has over 20 years’ experience in the energy sector and was most recently the general manager of onshore new ventures at Santos.

He has previously worked in several North American unconventional plays and has extensive experience in Australia, including nearly a decade in the Beetaloo.

Morbey joins the company from Beach Energy where he had served as its head of investor relations.

His prior experience includes investor relations at Oil Search, equity research at Macquarie Bank and business development at Drillsearch Energy.

Fagerstrom has over 20 years of international legal experience and has served in senior legal roles for Alinta Energy, AWE, Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company and Halliburton.

Beetaloo shale gas

Tamboran and its operating partner in EP 161, Santos, recently commenced fracture stimulation at the Tanumbirini 2H and 3H wells that will allow the JV to test their ability to produce gas.

Each of these wells will have about 10 stages of fracture stimulation carried out across their horizontal sections.

Learnings from these wells will be applied to the company’s Maverick-1H horizontal well in its 100%-owned EP 136 permit next year.
