Pure Hydrogen Corp (ASX: PH2) says it’s delighted to inform the stock exchange that H2X Global – the Aussie EV hydrogen fuel cell manufacturer – has confirmed the initial release of its Warrego All Wheel Drive Pick-Up. (We call it a ute.)

For the growing fan-base of Australian hydrogen electric vehicle (EV) enthusiasts the homegrown manufacturer H2X Global has also released some cracking details and photographs of its long-awaited Warrego hydrogen-powered utility.

The ute is now undergoing final testing in the Netherlands as it heads towards formal certification in Europe, as well as locking in European compliance and then onto global markets.

With Australian certification testing to start any day now, H2X Global CEO and founder, Brendan Norman, called the completion of the first Warrego ute a milestone success.

“It is extremely satisfying that our team now have the Warrego running through the final stages of its engineering, safety and on road verification program,” Norman said.

Based on the Ford Ranger, the ute is being converted to include the H2X powertrain developed for light vehicles featuring a supercapacitor-based Hybrid system at factories in Sale, Victoria and in the Netherlands.

While this will allow the Warrego to work at the lower 350 bar compression, it has the capability to run at much higher compression rates which will double the range per tank.

So this banana-coloured beauty (pictured above) was built in the Netherlands, but with the H2X production facility in Sale, Victoria polished up, work is underway converting the Warrego here at home.

Once approved by Dutch auto-regulators, the Warrego will be made available to retail customers over the coming months, in line with the availability of hydrogen.

H2X plans to maintain production in Europe and Australia at its facility in Sale, Victoria.

A lot at stake

Pure Hydrogen jealously guards its 23% stake in H2X which has achieved a global production footprint, and as a specialist in the development of hydrogen-powered vehicles, represents a great Aussie achievement in environmental innovation.

The big ute reveal comes as interest in H2X’s Warrego brand is beginning to grab global attention; there’s already some 250 global order-interests received from Germany to Malaysia.

The Warrego is H2X Global’s first application to demonstrate the company’s vehicle production capabilities. It will be targeted for release to support the large number of cities in Europe which will be closed off from diesel and petrol vehicles from 2025.

On track and going to market

Norman says the manufacturer is well on track with its ambitious roll out plans, while Pure Hydrogen managing director Scott Brown praised Norman’s leadership and vision.

“We’re thrilled with the H2X management team’s ability to navigate a number of operational challenges to bring the Warrego to initial production,” Brown said.

“Pure Hydrogen has provided material operational and strategic support to H2X since its initial investment in November 2021, and we look forward to providing further updates as the group continues to execute on its go-to market strategy.”

H2X Global has released a video of the Warrego which can be viewed on the company’s website under the news section.

It’s pretty cool.
