Stockhead’s ‘Garimpeiro’ columnist Barry FitzGerald is back in the studio for another instalment of The Explorers Podcast.

In this episode Barry chats with Mike Rosenstreich, managing director of Hexagon Energy Materials (ASX:HXG).

Hexagon is looking to commercialise a revolutionary rare earths processing technology called RapidSX™, which has the potential to disrupt China’s virtual monopoly over the processing of rare earth elements (REEs) into rare earth oxides (REOs).

REOs are the primary materials for the manufacturing of rare earth permanent magnets (REPMs), which are essential for electric vehicle motors, consumer electronic products, renewable energy generation and a number of military applications.

RapidSX™ can process REEs faster and cheaper than existing solvent extraction processes used in China, which can deliver substantial capital and operating costs savings to existing and proposed rare earth producers around the world.

Hexagon and its Canadian joint venture partners are building a commercial demonstration plant that will be operating and generating cashflow by the end of 2020.
