Hey Stockheads, here’s an asset guaranteed to double in value the moment you snap it up.

Premium wine with a rating of at least 95 points, usually sold for about $80 a bottle, going for less than half price.

Now that I have your attention, let me introduce myself. I’m a journalist and lifelong wine enthusiast. After 30-odd years pounding pavements as a crime reporter in New York, covering floods and fires throughout our land, keeping a sharp eye on political fixers, and editing national magazines and newspapers, I’ve ended up with the grand title of Cellar Director at The Australian Wine Club. Yep, it’s been a slog.

John Lehmann, Cellar Director. The Australian Wine Club.

Now, the bosses at Stockhead are letting me take you inside our Secret Cellar and, straight off the bat, I’m asking for your trust. I hope this will be the first of many red-hot wine offers coming your way in the weeks ahead, so let’s start at the top.

Here’s a chance to pick up four gold-medal winning wines, crafted by some of the highest-rated wineries in Australia, for only $37.50 a bottle. It’s a saving of $483 across the mixed dozen.

Our wine club will also give you a money-back guarantee and we’re throwing in the freight for free on this offer.

But there’s a catch – due to the extraordinary discount, the wineries involved would prefer their names not be published to protect the value of their brands.

That means you do have to trust that these wines have been crafted by reputable, high-class wineries.

Take comfort in the fact that each wine has scored at least 95 points from wine critics. They do represent over-the-top value but can only be purchased at this price as part of the mixed dozen offer – not in straight dozens of one particular wine.

The wineries are taking part in this special offer at a time when their export markets are under pressure, mainly due to China’s punishing ban on Australian wines. We’re helping to take off a little of that pressure.

At the wine club, we’re delighted these wineries put their trust in us to protect their brands. To help you put your trust in us, I’ll give you as much information about these wines as I can without giving their identity away. And remember, we do offer a money-back guarantee.

Hunter Valley Shiraz 2014

One of the Hunter’s most highly rates wineries has produced this rich 2014 shiraz – and done the cellaring for us. Offering a deeper flavour profile than a typical Hunter shiraz, with both red and black fruit flavours vying for attention. Along with ripe plum and black cherry aromas, the nose shows forest floor, mushroom and barnyard nuances, leading to a complex palate where juicy fruit flavours mingle with secondary characters like tobacco and leather. Fine tannins, softened with time in the cellar. A really nice burst of natural acidity on the finish helps guide this wine home and guarantees a second sip. 95 points from James Halliday. 14% alc; RRP $70 a bottle.
