ASX small cap winners March 18-22

Weed hopeful CropLogic (ASX:CLI) has received a licence to cultivate industrial hemp in the US state of Oregon, which pushed shares up 123 per cent to 2.9c.

The company has been pouring considerable resources into assessing the US hemp market as it seeks to diversify its offering.

A new high-grade gold discovery at its Penny West project in WA for Spectrum Metals (ASX:SPX) sent the miner’s share price up 118 per cent this week, to 2.4c.

Intercepts were highlighted by 24.2 grams per tonne of gold at a depth of eight metres.

Kingsgate Consolidated (ASX:KGN) closed up 60 per cent this week, to 23c, after winning a significant court battle.

Kingsgate has been fighting the Thai government and its insurers over the premature closure of its Chatree gold mine.

This week it told investors insurers had agreed to a whopping $82 million payout.

Emerge Gaming (ASX:EM1) had a good week, shares rising 59 per cent to 3.3c thanks to a partnership with fellow small cap gaming stock iCandy (ASX:ICI).

The new deal with iCandy gives Emerge access to iCandy’s purported network of 350 million mobile gamers worldwide, while giving iCandy access to Emerge’s esports technology.

Shareholders in Uniti Wireless (ASX:UWL) absolutely loved its new board director Vaughan Bowen dropping nearly a million dollars to buy 3.2 million shares in the company.

UWL shares closed up 49 per cent to 36.5c. The ASX has been on the company’s back about its two co-founders being fired a day after it listed.

Pot stock Cann Group (ASX:CAN) has decided to build its state-of-the-art growing facility in rural Victoria rather than near Melbourne’s biggest airport.

Mildura will be the company’s new base, although Tullamarine is still on the cards down the road. Shares in CAN rose 41 per cent to $2.21 this week.

ASX small cap losers March 18-22

MacMillan Shakespeare (ASX:MMS) called off a merger with Eclipx (ASX:ECX) after the latter said profit was down another 42 per cent since January, compared to the first five months of fiscal 2018.

That sent Eclipx shares tumbling 59 per cent, the week’s biggest fall, to 73c.

There were big headaches at Wagners Holding (ASX:WGN), which fell 29 per cent to $2.20 this week.

It has a cement supply agreement with $5.7 billion construction giant Boral (ASX:BLD); and Boral has effectively used the Bunnings clause — “if you find a competitor’s lower price on the same stocked item, we’ll beat it by 10 per cent” — saying it has found cheaper cement elsewhere, and asked Wagners to reduce its price.

Wagners says revenue may be hurt by as much as $20 million.
