Here are the key ASX small cap winners and losers at lunch Tuesday October 30:

The ASX Small Ords was down 2.3 points or 0.09 per cent to 2,542.8 at 12.47pm AEST.

GOING UP

Rollercoaster biotech Biotron (ASX:BIT) was yet again among the most-traded small caps with $2.8m worth of shares trading hands as the company rose 21 per cent to an intraday high of 20c.

The HIV fighter has been in the spotlight over the past month ever since it announced positive results to its clinical trial. Here columnist Tim Boreham took a look at the hows and whys — and what’s next.

Today the company published answers to some rather detailed questions from the ASX asking for clarity on its disclosure practices. Biotron said it was in compliance with ASX listing rules.

Shares in Freehill Mining (ASX:FHA) rose 20 per cent to an intraday high of 1.8c following the release of the September quarterly.

It showed that Freehill was making slow progress on a number of fronts since falling from year-highs of 10c earlier in the year.

“These included board restructuring, the contracting out of the trial mining operation and detailed planning for a maiden exploration program commenced,” the company said.

Smart car tech company Connexion Media (ASX:CXZ) rose 14 per cent to an intraday high of 0.8c after telling investors that General Motors had selected its technology for exclusive use in 2019 Cadillac models.

Its fleet management software will be the only software allowed for GM (Buick, GMC, Chevrolet) and now Cadillac dealers to be eligible for the 2019 Courtesy Transportation Program. The take-up by Cadillac is expected to result in an increase of approximately 10,000 subscribed vehicles for the program as a whole.

Gladiator Resources (ASX:GLA) shares rose 50 per cent to an intraday high of 0.3c after the company revealed to investors that it received the final approvals from the Central Land Council to commence its drilling program in the Northern Territory.

The approvals received by the Council and the Department of Primary Industry and Resources remove all barriers to exploration activity on the Company’s Kroda and Tulsa prospects, Gladiator said.

GOING DOWN

Nearly 60 per cent of ResApp’s (ASX:RAP) share price was wiped in Tuesday morning trade as investors called into question “positive preliminary results” from a long-awaited follow-up trial for its coughing app.

ResApp’s share price collapsed 14 months ago when an earlier trial of the smart phone app — which is designed to diagnose respiratory disease — failed and had to be redone.

It dropped 60pc to an intraday low of 9c today.
