Lunchtime ASX small cap wrap: Who’s lighting up the red carpet today?
News
It was a choice between Royal Baby and Katie Perry’s best impression of Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast, today.
Kate Perry, naturally, won, with her Met Gala Ball ‘Camp: Notes On Fashion’ costume.
We at Stockhead are left wondering how she sat down at the dinner.
Back home among the less glamorous (sorry guys) small caps of the ASX, several companies remained standing for their bows while a handful slumped in their seats, vainly hoping no one would notice the morning’s bad news.
The ASX Small Ords was up by 15 points to 2817.
Here are the key ASX small cap winners and losers at lunch Tuesday May 7:
The top seven winners this morning have all gone up despite no news, although it seems no news is good news for Ultracharge (ASX:UTR) which promised to release a reason last week for the unexpected sale of its electrolyte tech — and is yet to do so.
The biggest gainer with news was Laserbond (ASX:LBL) whic this morning announced positive revenue and profit forecasts. It expects revenue between $21.6 and $22.2 million and a pre-tax profit between $3.2 million and $3.5 million.
The only others with news out that didn’t include investor presos were Impact Minerals (ASX:IPT), which has a new non-executive director, and Marmota (ASX:MEU) which said new samples from the South Australian Aurora Tank gold mine were yielding more than 100 g/t.

The biggest loser was Actinogen (ASX:ACW). Investors learned this morning Actinogen’s Xanamem drug, which aimed to improve cognition in Alzheimer’s patients, doesn’t work in 10mg doses – i.e. at safe levels. It’s not clear what’s next for the company, after its heavy investment in Alzheimer’s.
Landmark (ASX:LMW) returned to the bourse today, a day after announcing a cyber attack in February has cost it $5-6m in revenue to date, and it’s expecting to lose another $1m on top of that.
And Empired (ASX:EMP) has lost a long-standing WA roads contract which will remove $10m from FY2020 revenue.
