Some businesses will have a field day today. Florists, jewellers…perhaps even big retail chains. But what about listed businesses?

Last year, Stockhead named these 10 companies as stocks to watch on Valentine’s Day.

Since then only 3 have made gains: Seafarms Group (ASX: SFG), Delecta (ASX: DLC) and Love Group Global (ASX: LVE).

This would suggest the businesses in for a field day are those ideally placed to provide a romantic night out.

First, dating apps to help singles find someone (Love Group); second, a seafood dinner with plenty of prawns (SeaFarms); and third, adult products for what Valentine’s Day really means for most of us (Delecta – through its subsidiary Calvista).

However, this selection of stocks leaves several questions unanswered. If you’re looking for love from Valentine’s Day stocks, you need to tap your inner romantic.

How will you look your best?

You could visit any of the Immersion Clinical Spas owned by Wellness & Beauty Solutions (ASX: WNB). If you’re short of ideas on gifts, you could give your partner a gift voucher or buy one of their products. The Company purchased cosmetics manufacturer Giving Brands Co last year and this year they intend to become a major player in the Australian beauty industry.

If you don’t have enough time to visit a clinic you could just go to the Shaver Shop (ASX: SSG) where they can help you look your best if you’ve got a big night out.

What to do on the night out?

Dependant on what city you live in, you could visit Crown (ASX: CWN), Star (ASX: SGR) or the Reef Casino (ASX: RCT). Even if you’re not a gambler, these places boast magnificent restaurants and hotels.

If you want to spend Valentine’s Day at the movies, there’s Event Hospitality and Entertainment Group (ASX: EVT), who own Event Cinemas. Perhaps you are into Village Roadshow films, if so you’re in luck – Village (ASX: VRL) is the only film Company listed in Australia.

If you fancy taking a romantic getaway tonight or in the near future, Helloworld Travel (ASX: HLO) or Webjet (ASX: WEB) could be of assistance.

What to drink?

If you’re into alcohol there are options aplenty, including on the ASX.

Does whisky take your fancy? Tasmanian-based Australian Whisky Holdings (ASX: AWY) can help you. With famous brands (such as Nant, Lark and Overeem) having won no less than 7 awards between them in 2018, they may return dividends for you too.

Perhaps you’re in Western Australia, where there’s craft brewer Gage Roads Brewing (ASX: GRB). Maybe your partner is in China and will miss spending Valentine’s Day with you. Never fear for you could order them wine through Digital Wine Ventures (ASX: DW8), or perhaps they’ve thought of you first.

What to bring your partner as a gift?

If a night at the movies, a bottle of wine or a stay at a nice hotel will not be enough, never fear. If you have an open mind you could visit online store Kogan (ASX: KGN) or real world stores Myer (ASX: MYR) or JB-Hi-fi (ASX: JBH)

Decided tonight’s the night to pop the question? Michael Hill can take care of you – that is if they’re not out of stock.

If your bank balance is still recovering from the Christmas shopping period, you should find something more appropriately priced at the Reject Shop (ASX: TRS).
