Special report: Brookside’s Texas oil plays continue to produce strongly as one well in particular has delivered 73,000 barrels of oil equivalent (BOE) in two months.

The Bullard well is the most recent to start production and has hit 1828 boe/day, with 67 per cent of that being oil and the rest is gas.

The well is in the SCOOP play in the prolific Anadarko basin. Brookside owns leases in three areas: the SCOOP and STACK plays, and more recently in the SWISH shale play.

The so-called STACK and SCOOP plays have been described as two of the “hottest new areas” for oil development in the US.

Brookside says several of the “tier-one” large independents are already pushing forward in the SCOOP play with full field development pilots — up to ten wells per unit in some cases.

Brookside managing director David Prentice says he’s “thrilled” by the strong early production results.

The areas where Brookside has and is buying up leases.

“These are very strong initial production results and we are thrilled that the Woodford Shale in this well is delivering great early indications of its productivity and reserve Potential,” he said.

“The Bullard well is located in close proximity to our SWISH AOI and it provides us with an early look at what we can expect there when development gets underway.

“The Woodford, together with the Sycamore are central to the value creation model for SWISH and it is wonderful to have achieved this milestone so early in the evolution of the SWISH story”.

Brookside buys cheap undeveloped oil leases in Oklahoma, develops them to prove the underlying oil reserves, then looks to sell the acreage for a tidy profit.

The Bullard well is operated by Rimrock Resource Operating and Brookside owns a 20.57 per cent working interest in it.

These results were achieved from a 7,500 foot lateral producing from the Woodford Shale formation at a depth of approximately 8,050 feet.

The results achieved in this “parent well” will also enable the company to book significant proved undeveloped reserves in this development unit.
